Peptide education · Canada-wide

Peptides are complex.
Understanding them shouldn’t be.

There’s more information about peptides than ever before, and less clarity. We cut through the noise with straightforward education and one-on-one guidance for researchers at every level.

Resources

Start with the fundamentals.

Before anyone hands you an opinion, it helps to know how to judge one. These are the basics we walk researchers through most often. Free to read, nothing to fill in.

01

Reading a Certificate of Analysis

What a COA proves, and what it doesn’t.

A Certificate of Analysis is a third-party lab’s report on one specific batch. The parts worth reading are the lot number, the test date, the method used, and the measured purity. A COA that doesn’t name the lab, the lot, or the method isn’t telling you much. And it only ever describes the batch it was run on — it says nothing about the one in front of you unless the lot numbers match.

02

Purity, and what the numbers mean

HPLC, mass spec, and why figures differ.

HPLC separates the compounds in a sample and measures how much of the total each one represents. That’s where a figure like 99.1% comes from. Mass spectrometry answers a different question: whether the peptide is actually the sequence it claims to be. Purity without identity confirmation tells you a sample is clean, not that it is what the label says.

03

Peptide terminology, decoded

Sequence, analog, fragment, conjugate.

A peptide is a short chain of amino acids. The sequence is the order of those amino acids, and it is the compound’s real identity. An analog is a modified version of a known sequence. A fragment is a portion of a larger one. A conjugate is a peptide bound to another molecule. Most of the confusion online comes from these four words being used interchangeably when they mean quite different things.

04

How to evaluate a study

Model, sample size, and who funded it.

Start with what was actually studied: cells in a dish, an animal model, or people. Findings rarely transfer cleanly between them. Then look at sample size, whether there was a control group, and whether it went through peer review. Finally check funding and author affiliations. None of these is disqualifying alone, but together they tell you how much weight a result can carry.

05

Red flags in online content

How to spot the noise quickly.

Be wary of dramatic claims with no methodology attached, total confidence on questions the literature hasn’t settled, citations that don’t say what the post claims they say, and anyone who benefits financially from the conclusion they’re pushing. The most reliable signal of a credible source is that it tells you where the evidence is thin.

06

Questions worth asking

Before you take your research further.

What is this compound, by sequence? What is the evidence base — in vitro, animal, or human? What is the third-party testing situation, and is there a matching lot? And what is still genuinely unknown? Bring these to your session and we’ll work through them together.

Want to go deeper on any of these? That’s exactly what the session is for.
